TiAuto CEO Alex Taplin Joins LITTLE EDEN’s Wheelchair Challenge to Support Mobility Awareness

On 26 March 2024, in a gesture of solidarity and commitment to community welfare, Alex Taplin, CEO of TiAuto Investments, parent company of Tiger Wheel & Tyre, spent a day in a wheelchair as part of LITTLE EDEN’s CEO Wheelchair Challenge. This initiative aims to raise awareness for individuals who rely on mobility devices and to support LITTLE EDEN’s essential services.

LITTLE EDEN, a haven for individuals with profound intellectual disabilities, offers specialized care for its 300 residents who call it home. With financial constraints affecting many organisations in recent years, LITTLE EDEN looks to partnerships and community support to maintain its high standard of care. The CEO Wheelchair Challenge encourages business leaders to experience the daily life of those who depend on mobility aids and consider supporting the organisation either financially or through product contributions.

In response to this call for support, Tiger Wheel & Tyre, in collaboration with Continental Tyres, stepped forward to ensure the safety and reliability of LITTLE EDEN’s fleet. The company fitted 18 new Continental tyres to LITTLE EDEN vehicles, including a VW Transporter, Mercedes Sprinter Bus, Fiat Doblo, and Toyota Hilux D4D. The commitment extended beyond just providing tyres, and Tiger Wheel & Tyre’s Greenstone and Bruma stores also took care of wheel balancing, alignment, and even repaired badly buckled wheels through Bruma’s in-store Xpress Wheel Straightening facility.

“This initiative resonates deeply with Tiger Wheel & Tyre’s core values,” explained Taplin. “Our brand promise, ‘Let’s go together,’ isn’t just about the road; it’s about the journey we share as a community. We’re inspired by the resilience and spirit of the LITTLE EDEN residents and were delighted to support their safety and wellbeing.”

Continental tyres, known for their high quality and reliability, were chosen to ensure that the LITTLE EDEN fleet remains road-safe and ready to transport their cherished “angels” with the utmost care. This joint effort reflects both Tiger Wheel & Tyre and Continental’s genuine commitment to keeping South African roads safe while supporting causes that contribute meaningfully to society.
