Tiger Wheel & Tyre wins Ask Afrika Award for the fifth time

South Africa’s most well-known automotive parts and fitment brand takes first place in the Vehicle Consumables category once again.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre is proud to announce its winning performance, and first-place award, in the 2021 Ask Afrika Orange Index®. This award is even more important considering the country’s overall backdrop of declining customer service.

The Index recognized Tiger Wheel & Tyre’s achievements across multiple customer service benchmarks. These include customer experience, communication skills, sticking to agreed deadlines, professionalism, industry knowledge, first-call resolution, and treating customers fairly. Tiger Wheel & Tyre ensures these benchmarks are met or exceeded, and all staff undergo training to uphold the company ethos and standards expected of them.

This year, the Index also focused on how brands were meeting the challenges of providing safe service to their customers during COVID-19. Tiger Wheel & Tyre’s performance in this area was highly commended.

The company offers Xpress Pick-up and Delivery, where customers could book a timeslot by telephone, have their vehicle collected, taken to the store for its fitment service, and then returned. Payment could be made through Ozow. This limited customer contact to a bare minimum, and this contact was addressed by maintaining strict hygiene protocols. Of course, those customers that did want to bring their vehicles into our stores enjoyed the same stringent protocols.

The index, celebrating its 20th anniversary, is the broadest and most widely referenced customer experience measurement in South Africa. The benchmark index has been tracking customer satisfaction, and its changing trends and expectations, since 2001.

Ask Afrika tracks customer experience and service scores across 31 industries and 200 individual brands. A total of 19, 986 South Africans were interviewed between May and July 2021 to establish which companies provide the best customer experience in South Africa.

The Index enables a comparative view between and across industries. It also enables investigative diagnostics whereby brands can identify pain points across the value chain that need corrective action.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre now offers a wheel repair service at all of its stores

Customers can have damaged wheels repaired at all Tiger Wheel & Tyre stores nationwide. The company offers this service either through its new Xpress Wheel Straightening Centres or by sending the damaged alloy wheels to Wheel Collision.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre, South Africa’s largest and most trusted automotive services company, has increased its offering to motorists throughout South Africa. It now offers a full range of tyre repair services at its stores nationwide in partnership with Wheel Collision, the country’s only SABS approved wheel repair brand.

Xpress Wheel Straightening Centres have been opened at selected Tiger Wheel & Tyre outlets throughout the country. Stores that do not, at present, have Xpress Wheel Straightening Centres on-site, will send damaged tyres to Wheel Collision’s state-of-the-art facilities for repair.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre recognizes that it is often more cost effective to repair an alloy wheel than replace it. So, it uses world-class technology to repair these wheels to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.

Customers now have quick, easy, and affordable access to a full range of damaged wheel repairs, including wheel straightening, full refurbishment, polishing, powder coating, and custom paint finishing for those that want to keep the same style wheel or change the color and finish.

The company makes safety a priority and uses X-ray machines to ensure safe and quality wheel repairs. Tiger Wheel & Tyre also offers a lifetime warranty on workmanship and a manufacturer’s warranty on paintwork.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre does not, for safety reasons, repair wheels that have been repaired repeatedly and are now too thin, that have four or more fatigue cracks, or that have cracks or damage across the spokes, the hub of the wheel, or valve hole. TIGER WHEEL & TYRE EMPANGENI ENROUTE TO REBUILDING Store team optimistic as post looting clean-up underway

For many South Africans, the July riots and looting will forever be engrained in our psyche – an experience unlike any other that threatened to debilitate our country and divide its people. However, living through this unprecedented experience in 2021 has demonstrated our innate resilience and ability to unite as a country, a nation and as a human race.

“With so many businesses, organizations and communities affected, unfortunately Tiger Wheel & Tyre Empangeni was not immune to the destruction. And, as we continue to survey the damage and estimate our financial loss, we can’t help but be grateful for the safety of our store team and customers,” said Farishta Singh – Group Marketing Executive at TiAuto Investments.

Comilla Naidoo – Store Owner and Manager at Tiger Wheel & Tyre Empangeni, “Not only was our stock completely looted and office computers and electronics stolen, but the interior and exterior of our premises were left vandalized, with additional machinery and equipment damaged. Sifting through the remnants of what was once a successful fitment centre, brimming with brand new tyres and beautiful, shiny wheels; where fitment bays were abuzz with the clanking of metal and enthused chatter of our fitment technicians – there remains a glimmer of hope and quiet optimism that this too shall pass and that we will rise again, more successful than ever!”

Tiger Wheel & Tyre to refuse to fit any looted tyres.

Customers requesting fitment of loose wheels, tyres, or automotive batteries will be required to provide proof of purchase.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre said today that the company will not fit any loose wheels, tyres, and automotive batteries without a valid tax invoice from the point of purchase. This is due to the recent looting that has devastated the nation and all sectors of its economy.

Tyre stores and distributors throughout South Africa, particularly in Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng, have suffered enormous losses. Tiger Wheel & Tyre’s store in Empangeni, for example, was looted and all its stock stolen. As a result, many of the company’s other stores had to be closed to ensure staff safety and protect assets and stock.

The looting was by no means limited to Tiger Wheel & Tyre alone. Retailers, wholesalers, and warehouses throughout the auto-fitment industry were severely affected. Many of the company’s competitors’ stores were looted and destroyed, and the Dunlop warehouse was also invaded and looted.

Tiger Wheel & Tyre stands in solidarity with the anti-looting initiative in the tyre industry and in support of all its fellow auto-fitment centres. The company considers itself to be a proudly South African brand and, as such, has a responsibility to join the country’s efforts to rebuild the nation’s economy.

The company’s decision to request proof of purchase prior to fitment will apply to all Tiger Wheel & Tyre fitment centres throughout South Africa.
